The Paraguachi Tree

Inktober 2018 - Venezuelan Myths. Drawing number 25. A legend from Isla de Margarita, reveals the origin of a peculiar looking Paraguachi tree. A young woman from colonial times suffered deeply with unfulfilled love, pleaded with God to ease her suffering, and he transformed her into the tree. Her soul is said to still linger within, and laughter and love songs can be heard when people draw near.
