The Ghost Carriage
In the dark streets of the city of Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State, the sound of horses hooves clipping is often heard along with the noise of the wheels of a carriage. Those who have seen the carriage describe it as an old one pulled by energetic horses enveloped in flames. The elders of this place assure that this carriage appears when someone is about to die to take their soul to the depths of hell. Those who see it make it go away by making the sign of the cross and praying a Creed.

The Whistler

This is one of the most popular Venezuelan myths. Long ago in the Venezuelan plains a father and his son went hunting, but fortune did not favor them that day and they weren't able to find any game. The son who was extremely disgruntled, ended up murdering his own father so as to eat his father's pluck. When he went back home his mother figured out what happened because her husband didn't come back and he brought back an excessive amount of meat. For this, she cursed her son as a punishment for carrying out such an atrocious act. Since then, a horrible spectre of an abnormally tall man can be spotted roaming through the plains, and those who have seen it describe it as a creature with legs that are too long and an excessively thin body. He wears a wide brimmed hat, and carries with him a bag where he stores the bones of his father. He is known as El Silbón (meaning the man who whistles), due to his most bizarre characteristic: he produces a chilling whistling sound, and if it's heard nearby it denotes that he is far away, and if on the contrary it is heard far away it's a signal that El Silbón is very near.
