The City

Through the Mirror of My Heart XVI. This was one of the drawings from the sketchbook I filled for The Sketchbook Project, now closed. I filled its pages with expressions of my life drawn from the heart. Drawn with Blackwing graphite pencil.

The City

...At night it ignites the lights of its houses and buildings,
Crying for help into the blackness of the vertical void,
Like candles lit in forgotten churches,
Sending prayers to cold, marmoreal statues
That embody buried memories of ancestors.
Its streets are mouths with fangs of razors and knives
That devour the time of the most needy
And poison the weak with drugs and alcohol...
